About Me

Professional background

Originally a native of southeastern Michigan, I completed my undergraduate work at Northern Michigan University, majoring in psychology. In 2002, I moved to Columbia Missouri and started my Ph.D. in counseling psychology with an emphasis in sport psychology. Here, I spent 5 seasons working with the MU wrestling team and a full year serving as the sport psychology intern for the entire MU athletic department. In 2008, I was named as the Distinguished Student Practitioner within the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.

From 2008 to 2010, I completed my internship and post-doctoral year at the University of California, Davis in the Counseling and Psychological Services center. During both of these years, my time was split between the counseling center and athletic department.

In the fall of 2010, I returned to Columbia and joined the practice of Mayer, Flanagan, Scott and Associates as a licensed psychologist. Since this time, my practice has flourished. I provide individual therapy and sport psychology services to MU student athletes, local club and high school athletes, and the community at large. I also teach graduate level courses as an adjunct professor.

I am a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). I am a Certified Sport Psychology Consultant (CC-AASP) and on the USOC registry.

Driven Sport & Performance Psychology is my newest professional endeavor, an opportunity to offer performance enhancement services to individuals, coaches, and teams and clubs who are interested in taking their mental and physical training to the highest level possible. I have 10 years of experience working with Division I athletes and love working with high intensity people!

Personal background

Originally from a very rural area, where the annual rodeo was the biggest event of the year, I still love my farming roots. You'll find me following local and national rodeo competitions as much as more traditional collegiate and professional sports. In the winter, I'm full of optimism planning for the year's garden and in the summer, I'm overwhelmed to see how all that optimism has gotten the better of me once again.

Currently, I am a recreational runner and have an active yoga practice. In my past life as an athlete, I was a competitive cheerleader and Muay Thai kickboxer. In September 2013, my husband and I welcomed our first child into the world - he is amazing!
